How To Take Care Of Your Mental And Emotional Health When You’re A Content Creator

Being a content creator during a pandemic is one of the most stressful jobs to have and can be overwhelming sometimes. From meeting deadlines to thinking of new content ideas, the mind of a content creator is working 24×7. Here are some things that you can do to keep your mental and emotional health in check:

  1. Sit back before burning out.

         In an industry where new content creators are flowing in every day, it can be hard to take a break because of the fear of being left behind but it is very crucial to relax before completely exhausting yourself. Taking short breaks, of a day or two, in-between may turnout to be more helpful than you think. Going to a nearby location for a weekend getaway, a spa or just simply turning off your electronic devices might provide you the relief that you need.

  1. Be Honest.

        Be truthful to your audience. If you’re facing lows or having a bad day, tell them. The key to keeping your audience satisfied is not always putting on a happy face as it can be tiring but, it is to be genuine. That doesn’t mean that you have to share details of your personal life or disrupt your privacy, you just need to be more transparent and authentic. Also, the audience also appreciates it more as they feel more connected to the creator and in an industry where everything is heavily edited, these candid conversations make you relatable.

  1. Schedule Breaks.

         Just like you schedule your work in the day, providing different time-slots to various tasks, meetings, filming, etc. Similarly, plan your breaks in-between too. In this way, you won’t be continuously working non-stop and you’ll also have something to look forward to while working. It also helps you to recharge and rejuvenate yourself during the day. Every once or two months, you can plan a trip for a change of environment. In addition to this, you should take regular breaks from checking your social media.

  1. Seek Help 

     Reach out to a therapist   if you feel swamped mentally and emotionally due to work or even if you feel that you are in a rut. Social Media can often be an unforgiving place, with praise comes criticism and a lot of bullying too. Rather than ignoring these feelings, we should confront them. Going to therapy helps you to become self-aware, the more self-aware you are, the less affected you’ll be by these things personally. Along with this, you can seek the guidance of your contemporaries. Being in the same situation as you, they might have an insight that will help you.

  1. Work Overload

    Don’t overload yourself with work. One of the main benefits of having this job is that you’ve chosen this for yourself. If you’re creating content, you have the freedom to create the kind of content that you like and even though there are deadlines and commitments, you should only agree to the amount of work you will be able to do without feeling drained. Sometimes you do have to work harder or as the slag goes “hustle” but constantly pushing your boundaries might leave you feeling frazzled.
